Methodology · Version 1.0

How Palance builds public rankings.

Clear eligibility, comparable measurements and no invented values. These rankings are informational and are not investment advice.

Publication

Rankings refresh monthly and always serve the latest complete snapshot. A partial or failed refresh never replaces the prior published table.

Performance

Palance collects up to two years of adjusted daily prices or NAVs and requires at least one year of usable history. Total return tables include 1M, YTD and 1Y together and default to 1Y. Best ranks from highest to lowest and Worst from lowest to highest for the selected horizon.

Factor scores

Value combines percentile ranks for price-to-earnings, price-to-book and price-to-sales, with lower ratios scoring better. Growth combines earnings, projected and sales growth. Quality combines return on equity, net margin and operating margin. Scores use only available valid inputs, range from 0 to 100 and are recomputed within each eligible asset universe at every snapshot.

Markets

Market rankings use a defined set of liquid investable proxies spanning major asset classes, sectors, countries and regions. The type filter changes which proxy groups are visible; it does not mix an unpublished universe into the results.

Stocks

Eligible stocks are listed in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany/Xetra, France, Japan, Hong Kong or Singapore, have at least $1bn in market capitalization, one year of price history and $1m in median 20-day traded value.

ETFs and mutual funds

Products are US-listed, have at least $100m in AUM or portfolio net assets and one year of history. Mutual funds require a stable ISIN so records can be identified reliably. ETFs also require at least $1m in median 20-day traded value. Leveraged, inverse, single-stock, volatility, daily-reset, ETN, money-market and closed-end structures are excluded. When a provider supplies consistent family and category identifiers, Palance retains the cheapest qualifying mutual-fund share class for each matching strategy.

Fixed income

The fixed-income universe uses eligible bond ETFs and mutual funds with at least 80% bond allocation. Yield, duration and cost come from the product's published portfolio-level fields.

Crypto

Eligible assets are active USD-quoted pairs with at least $100m in market capitalization, one year of history and $1m in median 20-day traded value. Stablecoins, wrapped or bridged duplicates, liquid-staking assets, tokenized securities and synthetic representations are excluded.

Fund characteristics

ETF and mutual-fund valuation, growth, yield and fixed-income measures use the product's published portfolio-level data. Palance does not reconstruct these measures from constituent holdings.

Missing information

An instrument is excluded from a specific ranking when its required metric is missing, stale or invalid. Palance does not estimate missing values for public rankings.

Currency

Cross-market comparisons use USD values. Local trading currency remains visible where relevant, and currency conversion uses the latest complete market-data snapshot.
